Privacy Policy — Blackops Market Url Link

Our mission is to document the history of darknet markets, including their economic role, their impact on organized crime, and on the war on drugs. Highlighting their connection to broader debates about privacy, security, and censorship is important. We use a variety of sources, including academic research, as well as accounts from the users. In our view, the evolutionary aspect of these digital black markets is the most intriguing thing to consider. True, they have their origins in the cypherpunk dream of crypto-anarchy: a virtual world free from the pernicious power of the state. Yet, as idealistic as that sounds, the marketplace has never been particularly free. So, the question is, free from whose influence?

Historical Market Data Retention Policies

Healthcare records must be stored for 25 years in Argentina. Tax records must be retained by businesses for a minimum of seven years in the U.S. and by individuals for a minimum of three years in Germany. DNA records may be stored forever in the U.K. or Australia.

  • Limited public information exists on the exact data retention of the Silk Road. Still, its operational model and indeed the orientation it shared with other underground forums focused on the immediate transaction data. This is the most essential for its function.
  • AlphaBay was known for having a more sophisticated infrastructure than what was observed in similar dark web marketplaces, though it isn’t known whether its data handling practices were necessarily more advanced. Post-seizure analysis determined that the AlphaBay staff had collected an extensive amount of data.
  • Rephrasy: Interestingly, older marketplace data practices initially showed more proclivities to store logs for protection against bad actors.

What stands out here is the minimal and transparent data collection and retention compared to previously observed massive data grabs.
